One Week!

In a less than a week I will be at Samford University for the first day of Miss Alabama Festivities. I cannot believe it is finally here. I am so excited to move in and start getting know all of the incredible women participating in Miss Alabama.

It's hard to grasp that I actually have the privilege of competing in the Miss Alabama Scholarship Pageant. I am so thankful for all of the support I have had from friends and family in the months leading up to the pageant. I have learned so much from all those who have taken time to poor into me. I would never be able to accomplish any of this if it wasn't for the numerous men and women that have helped me along the way.

One of those persons key in my preparations is Michelle Murphy and it is with great sadness I announce that my incredible director has just recently moved to Missouri. Michelle was offered an incredible position at the University of Missouri and I couldn't be more thrilled for her accomplishments. Though, I have missed her already. She was such a gift to Auburn University and I am just grateful to have been able to experience her brilliance in her final months at Auburn. I have never met someone who cared so deeply about others and paired that with a fantastic work ethic. Thank you for sacrificing so much of you time and resources for me, Michelle! I love you very much!

On a happier note, I have finished my Sophomore year...well actually, this is kind of sad too isn't it? It's hard to fathom that I am halfway through college. I had so many amazing experiences this past year and especially this semester. The Lord has taught be enumerable lessons about not only myself, but more importantly about how to live with a passion for His will. As Miss AU I have learned to trust Him with all of the details and I have gained a deeper understanding of how I want to represent Him by being the best that I can be.

This semester has given me so many chances to grow. One of the greatest challenges was organizing Move It for Miracles. I want to once again thank my incredible committee, my roommates, Tim Simpson and Caroline, Chelsea, Stuart and Macy- Miss AU's four new student directors. I am so grateful for each and everyone of you. Thank you for your servants hearts--you are the reasons I was able to make any of this come together. You are each a wonderful blessing!

I actually just recently got a hold of some pictures from the event and I want to leave you with a few. I hope you are all having a blessed summer!

We moved it!

Move It for Miracles was a huge success! We danced the night away and learned some new dance moves. Tim Simpson was our guest instructor and he did a fantastic job teaching all the couples some fun new moves. Aubie came and judged our swing dancing competition and he chose our truly talented winners, Justin Box and Neal Timberlake! AUrhythm also stopped by for an exciting performance, which we obviously had to follow with the "cupid shuffle" and "wobble." Thanks to Marco's Pizza, Panera Bread and Tiger dining's generous donations we had just enough food and drinks for everyone. I can't thank everyone on the Move It for Miracles' committee enough for all of your hard work and encouragement throughout the entire event. You each made this event a blast!

With t-shirt and ticket sales we were able to raise almost $600 for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals and Miss America Scholarship fund! I learned so much throughout this entire planning process and I am so thankful for all the help I received along the way. It was so neat to realize how easily I can raise money for incredible causes like this!
