The first step of a grand adventure...

Hello all,

My name is Emily Jordan. A week ago, on January 28th, I was blessed to receive the title of Miss Auburn University. I have one year and I don't want to waste a single moment. I am so thankful for everyone's thoughts and prayers before and after the pageant. I know that I have been placed in this role for a specific purpose and I am overjoyed to see what the Lord has in store.

I had an incredible experience all throughout the Miss Auburn University Scholarship Pageant and preparation process. I met 16 beautiful and talented young women and I am so thankful for their friendship. As I spent time with these ladies last week, I found myself in awe of the beauty of diversity. We were a group of 17 very different and unique women, and yet each and every girl was stunning, inside and out. It was a privilege to get to know each one of your hearts.

My hope as Miss AU is that I can serve the Auburn community. I am expectantly looking forward to raising awareness about responsible entrepreneurship. I am passionate about seeing businesses in Lee County find innovative and efficient ways of improving our community. I cannot wait to share my vision and inspire a generation of responsible entrepreneurs and leaders.

Over the past few days I have already started to begin preparing for the Miss Alabama Pageant. I am thrilled to be able to  represent Auburn University, SGA, and The Division of Student Affairs at the competition in June. Just like so many little girls, I have always had fond memories of the Miss America program. When I was little my grandmother would always sing, "There she is Miss America..." What a dream come true that I have been given the chance to take part in such an outstanding program.

I want to say a huge thanks to the Auburn Team Shop for their generous sponsorship and adorable personalized jersey. It was such a pleasure to meet you at my first appearance, Wendy and Jason! Yesterday, I also had the chance to judge the UPC Song Writing Competition. I sat in my seat amazed by the raw talent, right here in Auburn, Alabama! Each and every contestant was incredible. I am so proud to say that I am apart of such a talented student body.

Before I go I want to leave you with one of my favorite quotes that has inspired me as I am dreaming up ways to give back in my time as Miss Auburn University:

"I am only one, but still I am one.
I cannot do everything, but still I
can do something; and because I
cannot do everything, I will not
refuse to do something that I can do."
~Helen Keller

I am so honored to serve in this position. I cannot wait to contribute to the amazing Auburn campus and local community!

Much love,
Emily Jordan
